Rally day

Sunday was rally day at church. After the service we had lunch in the fellowship hall followed by water fun. They set up a giant slip n slide down the hill, two small pools, bubble machines and a pinata. The kids had a great time. It's all to celebrate and kick off the start of the school year and Sunday school.
Audrey loved the dolphin on the pool. She thought she wanted to go down the slide a couple of times. When we put her in Carter's lap to go down she started to cry and wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe next year.
Carter on the other hand loved it! I can't even count how many times he went down the slide. They would even squirt dish soap on the plastic to help the kids go even faster.
Sorry for the fuzzy picture. They had misters going down this year so it made for cloudy pictures but faster sliding.
Worn out from climbing up the hill so many times, it was time for Carter to relax in the pool. Audrey tried to squirt him with the water coming out of the dolphins mouth.

Pretty toes

The other morning I repainted my toenails. Audrey was very interested. She put her foot my mine and asked for some. So I painted her nails too. She got such a kick out if it. Now when you ask her who has pretty toes she exclaims, "ME!!!"
She keeps checking her toes out. She'll look at them and say, "ooo." When Carter got home from school she kept putting her foot by him showing off her pretty toes. Carter wasn't interested but was nice and told her she looks pretty.
There was a time when Carter was interested. When he was two he got into a bottle of nail polish and tried painting his toes himself. He ended up getting more on his legs and hands than his toes. Silly little boy.Trying to show me her toes

Back to School

That's right. School started this week. It's hard to believe that summer is almost over when we are still having weather in the upper 90's. Nonetheless, Carter was very excited to get back to school and had been asking about it that last couple of weeks. He was sick the end of last week but got better in time for the first day of school. Unfortunately, Audrey got it and missed the first day. Carter had a great first day back. He even got to be the special helper that day.

The second day Audrey was feeling better and ready for school. She had a great first day! When we walked into school the teacher took her hand and walked her to her classroom. Audrey didn't even look back. When I came to pick her up she was still running circles around the room not wanting to leave.
Can't forget my ladybug lunch box.

McWane Center

The kids love having the McWane Science Center so close by. They love running around the place and are always worn out by the time we leave. Audrey usually falls asleep before we are even out of the parking structure! The last couple of weeks we've been a bunch of times. A couple of times have been with other resident wives and their little ones. Chuck even got to come on a day he was post call.
The water table is always a hit
Carter on a bed of nails
Our sad attempt to get a picture of the two of them together. What were we thinking with all the fun things to distract them?
The kids love the fish tanks. Of course Audrey calls every fish Nemo. She's never seen the movie but with all the Nemo stuff Carter has, she knows who he is. Carter was proud that he was brave enough to touch one of the sharks in the touch tank. I didn't have the camera ready to catch it because he normally doesn't want to. Next time I'll be ready.
Audrey is one of the boys. All the other toddlers are boys and she sure holds her own. Meredith and Laura are both expecting girls this winter so she won't be the only one for long.

Mommy's little helpers

Carter and Audrey are my little helpers around the house. Carter has always been good with following directions and his willingness to help. It's looking like Audrey will follow in her big brother's footsteps. She'll throw things away for you if you ask her to and usually will put things away when told. Recently she has been into the dishwasher. She comes running when she hears me open it. Occasionally, Carter comes to help as well.
She pulls the dishes out one by one and says, "here go" as she hands it to me.
When the bottom is empty she climbs on the dishwasher door to pull out the items in the top drawer. (did I mention she's a climber?) Carter is worried that Audrey is holding a breakable cup. He likes to keep tabs on his little sister.
