Happy Valentine's Day

Carter and Audrey both wanted emoji boxes for Valentine's day.  I was grateful they picked something easy!
Evelyn didn't get to bring a box to preschool but she helped me put together a treat for her friends.
 School party
Audrey's teacher was on maternity leave and stopped in for a surprise visit.
Cute class picture with the baby
After preschool Evelyn helped me prep a Valentine themed dinner
Red tomato soup, heat shaped bacon, heart shaped grilled cheese, and heart tomato and fresh mozzarella skewers
The highlight was the chocolate dipped strawberries for dessert

Snow

February brought more snow.
The girls immediately went outside to play in it.  Carter chose to stay inside and do homework.
Sasha tried to catch the thrown snow
Snow as an adult is more tolerable seeing it bring so much joy to kids

playing in the snow wouldn't be complete without making snow angels

Spelling Bee Champ!

The school had their annual spelling bee in the beginning of February.  The class winners in grades 3rd-5th got to compete in the school bee.
Carter won the spelling bee!  We are so proud of him!
 Carter with the runner up.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend and didn't get to watch him win.  The principle had him call me to tell me the good news.  Next stop, the Journal Star Spelling Bee!

2nd grade music program

Audrey's class ready to perform, "Play Ball!"
They got to wear whatever baseball clothes they wanted.
Audrey has jumped on the Cubs bandwagon despite some of her friends influencing her to be a Cardinals fan.
Since Audrey lives for the stage, she was thrilled to have a large speaking part.
Another great job by our drama queen.
These cuties did a great job entertaining the parents.

Lego Master

Audrey finished her Magic Kingdom castle set!  It's an impressive set.
It's awesome how many different movies are represented in all the different rooms
She was so proud of herself.  We were too.  She did it on her own.  There were only a few times she asked for help.

Chocolate day

Audrey's class got to celebrate chocolate day.
They started the day by receiving golden tickets
This is a second grade tradition that the kids look forward to.  They know it's going to happen but the actual day is kept a surprise.

Surviving Christmas Break

Christmas break is long!  In order to survive having the kids home that long we had girls nights out, date nights and surprising the kids with a trip to the Dells.
Some thought we were crazy.  We were 3 moms taking 9 kids to Kalahari.  We were just a tad out numbered.  It ended up working out well.
These 2 are double trouble.  They also share the common bond of being the third.
 Winding down for the night.
The 3 girls.  The rest were boys!
Almost the whole crew.  We had one that didn't want his picture taken
The kids had a great time together.  They spent a ton of time on the slide with the large tube.  They liked that 3 of them could ride together.
Enjoying the hot tub before they got kicked out.  The lifeguard on duty when they got in didn't care they were in there.  The next one on duty kicked them out.
The whole crew ready to go eat dinner
Evelyn wanted a picture with the big rock
These kids had a great time together.  The moms enjoyed having them occupied and happy for a few days.  All 3 of my kiddos slept on the way home.

Chrsitmas

Tita Angela and Uncle Brett came down and spent Christmas with us.  We managed to get a group picture.
Sasha put herself there.  We didn't have to call her over.
She always supervised the opening of presents.  The kids get to open some presents Christmas Eve night to make room for Santa.
We miss our furry baby so much!
 More magna-tiles!
The kids went to bed happy with what they got so far.
With the kids getting older Santa is having to stay up later and later.  The tree was eventually ready for them bright and early in the morning.
The kids are starting to sleep in but not on Christmas morning.  They were up and ready, trying to be patient for us to wake up.  Evelyn is usually the one they send in to wake me up.
 Digging in
 Lego Magic Kingdom castle!
He has to build and program this robot
 More American Girl items
 mermaid blanket
They didn't even get dressed for the day before starting to build.
I found Evelyn taking a break under the dining room table
