Fun with the Grimms

The Grimms were in Destin for a conference and we got to spend a day with them on the beach.  The kids always have a great time together.  It's so nice they are at the age that we can let them play and the adults can catch up with each other.
The girls trying to catch fish
It's hard to believe that when we first met we were in residency and only had 1 kid.  Now we are done with residency and fellowship and have 6 kids.
 Enjoying lunch on the balcony
The diva needing her rest while she waits for us to move to the pool
This one loves the sand and waves
I love how well the kids play together while we're at the beach
He builds the castles and Evey knocks them down

Destin 2015

This summer was so busy with Chuck's work and the kid's activities.  We weren't able to go down to Destin until the first week in August.  We normally go in June to avoid the heat and humidity but it just didn't work out this year.
Carter's mission was to catch these tiny fish
While Evey built castles they dug holes
Carter used to do this at the beach.  I think he was about the same age too.
It became routine for the kids to eat flavor ice on the balcony while I made lunch
 Love my beach bums
 always a ballet pose
She kept burying her feet then counting to three and jumping out.
 catching beach critters
These goofballs thought it was a good idea to brush teeth in the shower and dance
Carter finally showed interest in boogie boarding this year
By the end of the day he got the hang of it
Evelyn's favorite bucket.  She made them sit so she could give them a shower
my munchkins in our happy place
more to come....

Play set, finally

At the end of July this finally happened.  It doesn't look like much but it had to happen in order for us to put a play set up.  We had part of the fence taken down to extend and level the yard.  They had to bring in 9 tons of dirt, build a retaining wall and put the fence back up.  This was supposed to be done in the beginning of June but thanks to the monsoon that the beginning of summer was it didn't get done until the end of July,
The kids were excited and willing to lend a hand to get the play set up.
Of course, Sasha had to supervise.
The kids were swinging before it was completely done.
Evelyn testing out the rock wall.
So happy it's done!
Evelyn was definitely the most excited. She loves to be outdoors.
Daddy testing out the weight limit.
We already know it was worth the wait.
This never gets old.  (Well at least for me)

CICCA conference meet

The swim team season wrapped up with the CICCA all conference meet.  It was our turn to host so there was a lot of excitement leading into it.  The team also did spirit week for the last week of practice.  Here's Toga Tuesday. I missed getting a picture of 'Merica Monday.
 Wacky Wednesday
I missed Team Spirit Thursday.  Friday was dress as your favorite superhero or villain.  This years theme was "Bang, POW, Splash!"  Each Club chose a different superhero and we were Batman.  The club house was transformed into Wayne Manor.
The night before the conference meet there was a huge party to kick off the weekend.  Batman and his batmobile were there to greet all the guests as they arrived.
Banners of all the teams and their chosen superhero hung from the loft of the bar.  I wish I would've taken more pictures.  The decorations were really impressive as well as the food stations.
Total mom fail as this is the only picture I managed to get of him on the day of the conference.  The coaches hosted a tutu and cape making party for the the swimmers.  They wore them for the opening parade.

We are so proud of Carter and all the progress he made over the season.  He didn't place in any of his events but he definitely gave it his all in his last meet.  He cut his freestyle time in HALF!  He also had personal best times in backstroke and breast stroke.
