Carter represented Dunlap Grade School at the Journal Star Spelling Bee. It was recorded at the NBC news station.
You could feel all the nerves as we waited in the conference room before heading into the studio.
Carter looked so little sitting in between 2 middle school students.
Group shot before they started recording. Carter was much more nervous than I thought and was eliminated on a tough word in the first round. He was disappointed in himself since he knew a lot of the more difficult words in the final rounds. It was still a great accomplishment to make it there and a great learning experience.
